Battles with Nausea and Miniature Chickens

Gosh, I have had such bad morning sickness lately that I have to sit outside to avoid any smells in the house.  You know how hard it is when you are hungry but you can't go in the kitchen or you'll get sick?  Or change a poopy diaper without getting sick?  Oh man. I hope I can cook for Thanksgiving.  I will probably have to wear nose plugs and open all the windows.  This morning I tried to do that but the roosters were crowing too loud and Charles was tired so I had to close them.  Little stinkers.  These are my miniature chickens but their crow is still really loud.  In the picture they look big but they are adult size and I can pick them up with one hand.  I'll have to show a picture sometime of them next to the big chickens.  It's gross sometimes having to change out their bedding or refill their water right now. Normally it's not a big deal but next time I using gloves.  So worth it though for all the eggs we get for breakfast.

So my big and tough boys somehow end up here every now and then once we all go to bed. It was around midnight but I turned the lights on to take this picture.  I don't feel guilty about not giving them their own room because they all end up sleeping on the same bed or couch anyway.  Caleb is even sleeping on top of Chaz. Sooooo cute!

I was up at midnight because I tend to be hungry alllllll the time.  If I don't eat I get really bad nausea.  How's that for keeping weight off, eh?  Yeah, this baby is gonna help me get some pounds on if this keeps happening.  The doctor tells me to eat a carrot or something.  Ha!  That's like serving a vegetable dish and putting a candle in it for someone's birthday.  Just mean!

Cute cute cute! You have a binky AND a thumb-lover? Sweet! Your little guys are just adorable. I would love to see a video of what your chickens do at feeding time, what that sounds/looks like. Take care!

I was dealing with the same thing and asked my doctor what I could do. She suggested two things and they both work.

#1: Sea Bands ~ They are small accupressure bands worn on each wrist and are used for morning sickness, motion sickness, etc. They work within 1-2 minutes as well. I special ordered mine from the Walmart Pharmacy, although I hear you can get them from drugstores too.

#2: Eat protein before bed ~ I bought a box of Special K Protein Meal Bars and eat one before bed. They are very tasty (I get chocolate peanut butter) and are filling as well. I wake up and have little to no nausea in the morning. I sometimes eat one for breakfast (doing that more now than at night).

Hope that helps and I hope you are feeling better soon! Your boys look so cozy! :)

Well, I don't do feeding time with them because they just have a big feeder that I fill up. If I had to feed them every day I would forget and they'd starve. My poor dog Henry. It just became my chore and he's probably not liking it very much.

Sally! That's a good idea about the bands. My church is so against anything accupressure but I might just try it anyway. Are they expensive? I might have to try it. I'm sick from morning till night and have to eat every hour to half hour to ward it off. I'm gonna have to go on the Biggest Loser show after this if I don't knock it off.

Well, I paid $8 for my set but my mom has found them at Bon Ton (by the suitcases) for like $3. It depends on where you go, I guess. :) I don't know much about acupressure, but when I am puking my guts out I will take anything!! LOL! I think I am leaning more towards the protein bars at this point though...the bands are a little snug on me. :)

Pregnant with #4, I have finally found something to help with the nausea, muscle aches & pains. Finely chop up one teaspoon of fresh Ginger 2 - 3 times a days and swallow with juice to help cover up the taste. I also suffer with migraines during pregnancy and it really helps when I avoid all food coloring, sodas, HFCS, sweets and processed foods. Of course I still occasionally have sweets, a soda or fast food, hard to resist sometimes. But changing my diet has helped tremendously with the migraines/muscle tension and I throw a little pregnancy yoga in the mix. : )

I ate no-salt saltines before I ate anything and in the morning. My second son was born in 1978. I ate cashew nuts during his pregnancy and he is allergic to tree nuts. That was the only pregnancy that I ate cashews. I never liked peanut butter until after having my children so I never ate it when "with child". I don't like accupuncture or yoga but I don't see why one of those motion sickness wrist bands wouldn't be alright. Michelle Duggar uses them(page 135 of the first book) for morning sickness. She uses chewable prenatal vitamins. I couldn't take my vitamins on an empty stomach or I would be nauseous.
