Noah - The Movie!

Have you noticed all the amazing movies that have been coming out lately?  As a Christian and someone who's grown up hearing these stories times after time again, it's neat to see it come alive in film!  Here is a featurette about the film Noah. It's a must see!  Yes, there is a lot of knowns and unknowns about the details in the bible of this story.  I'm sure in this movie they took some artistic license to fill in some of the what we don't know.  Rather than be quick to criticize, let's see for ourselves.

NOAH

Directed by Darren Aronofsky. Starring Russell Crowe, Emma Watson, Jennifer Connelly and Sir Anthony Hopkins. In theaters everywhere March 28, 2014.

"While artistic license has been taken, we believe that this film is true to the essence, values and integrity of a story that is a cornerstone of faith for millions of people worldwide."

Synopsis:
A talented young singer and aspiring songwriter’s Christian faith and family ties are tested when she defies her worship-pastor father and pursues pop-music stardom in GRACE UNPLUGGED, a moving and inspiring new film that explores the true meaning of success.

Grace Trey has just turned 18 and aspires to do more than sing in her church’s worship band, which is led by her father, Johnny Trey, a one-time pop star who gave up his life in secular music when he became a Christian. Grace longs to escape his shadow and make a name for herself singing songs about something other than God, but Johnny warns her that fame is not as glamorous as it looks and reminds her that serving and worshipping God with the talent she’s been given is a far more worthwhile goal.

When Johnny’s former manager, Frank “Mossy” Mostin shows up 20 years after the two parted ways to offer him another shot at the big time, Johnny declines the opportunity. But Grace takes it – without telling her parents. She records a cover version of her father’s old Top 10 hit, runs away to Los Angeles and, under Mossy’s guidance, begins to taste the kind of success she’s always dreamed of, landing on the charts herself, attracting the attention of the entertainment press, even dating a popular TV star.  But with each rung of the ladder she climbs, Grace feels pressure to compromise her Christian values, and her relationship with her parents gets further strained. Even as plans move forward for her to record a follow-up album, Grace learns not everyone who says they’re on her side really is. The one exception is Quentin, an intern at her record company and a fellow Christian who urges Grace to reassess her choices and put God first again in her life. Will everything she experiences lead her to reject her faith … or rediscover it?

Starring AJ Michalka, James Denton, Kevin Pollack, Shawnee Smith, Michael Welch, and Jamie Grace, GRACE UNPLUGGED arrives in theaters October 4 from Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions. Inspired by a true story, GRACE UNPLUGGED is directed by Brad J. Silverman and produced by Russ Rice, the team behind NO GREATER LOVE.

Dry-Me Bedwetting Alarm Review

The Bed Wetting Store sent me the Dry-Me Bedwetting Alarm for one of my kids to try.  My son is older than seven and still has an issue with bed wetting.  He is SUCH a deep sleeper and has no clue when he does this till he wakes up in the morning.  It's very embarrassing for him and a lot of work for us.

I was sent the alarm along with the book Seven Steps to Nighttime Dryness

You'll learn:
  • The myths of bedwetting: what causes it and what doesn't
  • Which treatment options are available and which one is best for your child
  • How to choose–and effectively use–a bedwetting alarm
  • How to know when it's time to start treatment
  • How to get your child on board
  • When to stop treatment and pronounce your child "cured"
My son was a little unsure about using the alarm but figured it out pretty quick.  Being that he's so used to sleeping hard straight through the night, he thought it was pretty cool having the alarm to wake him.  EVEN THOUGH it was when he wet his pj's.  It still is getting him into a habit to wake up when he needs to go.  He never minded the wake up in the middle of the night.  I quickly began to see an improvement in his ability to sleep at least a bit lighter to know when he needs to potty. I mean, this kid could sleep through an earthquake so I was happy to see this working.  At first his big brothers would wake him up to the alarm when he peed and then he began to wake up on his own within just a few days.  Also, you can have it do random alarms sounds so they don't get used to one sound and sleep through it.

It's awesome and definitely a product worth giving a try!  I've tried everything you can think to help my son and this is the one that worked. They have other options of alarms at the store so make sure to take a peak!

Here's more about how the alarm works:

The alarm is small and lightweight and features a plastic clip molded directly on the back of the alarm unit, which clips comfortably at the shoulder area or collar of the child’s pajamas. The alarm’s small moisture sensor is threaded under your child’s shirt and is clipped to the outside of close fitting underwear where wetness would first occur. This bedwetting alarm is well made and designed to go off at the first sign of moisture.

The Dry-Me alarm has three customizable alert settings that allow you to pick between sound & vibration, sound only, or vibration only. When sounds are used, the alarm will play 8 random sounds so that your child does not tune out one specific sound. Each sound is delivered at high volume to effectively rouse your child from sleep. When vibration is used, the alarm delivers a continuous strong pulse. Most children respond best to sound and vibration simultaneously, so the alarm is set to do both when you receive it. In addition to these alert features, the alarm also lights up when urine is detected, making it easy to locate in the dark. Comes in unisex red color.

Learning How to Live Gluten-Free

Oh my goodness, life has been incredibly busy.  I don't mean to but I do tend to make my life harder.  I wish I could do it ALL but I just can't.  I decided that since I have an overload of non-food items from couponing, I'll only be couponing in the summer.  Seriously, I think my 40 deodorants will last me for a year or two that I've acquired over the summer.  Ya think?  Ha ha.  I don't want to be a hoarder.  Well, that frees up time for me to learn other important things.

My friend and I have spent HOURS learning about how to eat gluten-free.  I mean, we've spent HOURS.  While the kids went to their one-day-a-week school today, we went around looking for gluten-free bakeries and finding healthy stores.  Um, it's really expensive to have food made for you that's gluten-free.  It is so much better to learn how to make it all on your own.  I got a book awhile back from Future Horizons that is a recipe book for gluten-free cooking.  Special Diets for Special Kids.  Over 200 revised and new Gluten-free, casein-free recipes.  It's a fantastic book because the recipes are for kids in mind.  What can we make that's healthy, doesn't have a million ingredients, and kid will love?  Even better, it's not gonna hurt them if they have an allergy because substitutes were made.  Well, it's not nearly as hard as I thought.  Michele and I went to Whole Foods and had so much fun sampling everything.  I think I sampled the mangoes so much that it equaled just eating a whole mango.  So funny.  They had this machine that had peanuts in it and you can grind it.  Guess what comes out?  Peanut butter of course!  No yucky preservatives in it, just good ol' fashion peanuts.  Nothing needed to be added to it.  I'm in loooove with the store.
at least I try to convince myself... haha

Tonight Michele and I made Chicken Curry and some drink smoothies.  I called it Hulk Juice because it was tons of different fruit, kale leaves, and amazingly healthy for you.  The kids downed it.  We proved to them that great juice doesn't have to be about drinking Koolaid.  :D  Why does healthy food have to be more expensive?  Whyyyyy?  It's so much easier to go into Fry's (Kroger) and just snatch up $1 savings here and there but if it's bad for Chaz, My Aspergers son, and ADD son and daughter, I'll take that extra steps to help them.  I think Michele and I just have so much fun learning about all these interesting things and we tend to venture off into new things together.  I love having a friend like that.  Makes it so much more fun to explore when you're laughing half way through it.  :D

Here is the smoothie we made tonight.  See?  Not difficult at all!  Was yummy too.  :D

Shortage on Clean Tween Entertainment

My kids were big... or I should say HUGE fans of Veggietales back in the day.  It was fun.  Then they were big fans of Bibleman when they were about 8 or 9 years old.  Well, I have a couple of tweens and they just don't have any type of Christian entertainment for their age.  I'm sure there is some available out there, just very little.  Our childrens church shows many of these shows or movies but they don't have any like this for the tweens.  I don't know about you but I sure would like to support something like this that brings clean entertainment to our kids without the filth of Hollywood.  It doesn't just bring entertainment, but deals with real life situations that they can relate to.  Well, for them to be able to successfully push it forward, they need our support!  Lets give secular Hollywood a kick in the butt by showing we care for some moral and clean entertainment.  I know I do!

The Ultimate Guide to Cloth Diapers

I got a chance to read and now review the ebook The Ultimate Guide to Cloth Diapers.  This is FANTASTIC and saves me so much time.  You have no idea how many hours of searches I was doing for every little question I had (Not fun considering misinformation I had to sift through). It's ALL in this book.  Throughout the ebook Autumn Beck gives you links which is really helpful.  I honestly wish I had found this book before my first day of using cloth diapers on the baby because I had no idea how to prep them for first use.

This ebook is not just a little booklet with some information, the name says it exactly.  There is a ton of money and time saving tips to help you.  If you are thinking about cloth diapering your child, think about purchasing this book first.

-Autumn Beck

Questions I had answered:

1. How to prep diapers BEFORE their first use.

2. Is there anything dangerous about disposable diapers?  (This one will shock you).

3. Can you try out cloth diapers before you buy them?

4. There are soooo many different cloth diapers out there, which ones to buy and why?

5. How do you strip diapers?

6. Which diaper rash creams are safe for cloth diapers?

7. How to make your own fitted diaper (whoa, that's awesome).

8.  How to diaper your baby with prefolds and flats.

9. How to wash cloth diapers.

Oh my goodness, there is just soooo much in the book and this is just a tad.  I know you'll love the book!  It really is the ULTIMATE guide.  The book isn't cheap but if you consider how much money is wasted on buying the wrong cloth diapers, buying disposables, or not knowing how to care for cloth diapers properly, then it is really worth it.

The World from a Child's View

Today we are going back to the Kroc center where the kids go swimming.  We haven't gone since Ivy got burned because she wasn't allowed to get her bandage wet.  Well, our recent visit to the burn ward said she is healed and now we just have to make sure it's not exposed to the sun.  Well, the Kroc center has an indoor water park so that's perfect for us!  I love going during the day while all the other kids are in school because it's so quiet there.

It's hard to not constantly want to find fun activities for my kids. Seeing them be adventurous and enjoy everything in the city makes my heart joyous.  It's so neat to look at the world through their eyes.  This month my kids will be dissecting an octopus at the science center. I decided this time it'll just be the older boys so the little ones aren't being distracting.  We'll go around and experience everything in the center.  I don't really want to smell the dead octopus anyway.  Heh heh... Yesterday we were heading somewhere with the kids and when I had to stop for gas Ryan mentioned he wanted to clean the windows.  It's so much easier to just say "No, no, no" all the time but I remember what it was like to be a kid.  Charles said it's scary how much I remember.  Feelings, smells (remember onions to a kid?), how the world looked from the view of a child.  Sometimes it's easier to constantly say no to kids because it's just easier.  I went ahead and let Ryan which made it take longer to leave the gas station but I got clean windows out of it and Ryan was happy.  I have to remember that when kids ask to help, I should be careful to not always say no.  Their teen years are coming after all and I'm not sure they'll be so quick to volunteer.  :D  I remember one time offering to wash the dishes when I was a kid. When a relative saw I wasn't doing the best job, they told me not even to bother.  So I didn't.  I never volunteered again.

Kyle's
Ryan's

I found this awesome site (Great Products) that sells some really cool products.  I ordered three shirts from them and plan on getting several more.  They are not telling me to write this, I just love the site and wanted to share.  :D  Here are the three shirts I ordered so far since they are having a major sale on them.  I ordered them according to personality.  Kyle loves rock music, Ryan's always trying to act like a ninja and Chaz likes zombies even though we don't let him watch those kinds of movies.  LOL.

Chaz's
I really want them to make a bumper sticker that shows a bunch of kids or something and says, "This is OUR party bus."  From the oustside you can hear music, kids laughing, singing, and mommy and daddy trying to talk over the noise.

Princess & The Pee Panty Review and Giveaway

Sponsored by Tomoson.com
Little Ashley received one Princess & The Pee in the mail. She was so excited and loves the picture of the ducky princess sitting on the toilet. I need to get her more because she hates getting to only wear them one day and have to put in dirty hamper. When I wash her stuff, she ignores her other panties to find that one. Soooo cute.  Thankfully, you buy them in a set and the panty also comes with a book called The Princess & The Pea.  I'm telling you, little girls will LOVE this book and especially gets their minds geared towards learning to potty in the toilet.  But, in a fun way through a story!

The Princess & The Pee tells the story of a young princess named Tallie who can’t resist using her daddy’s name to get her way. She knows her actions are wrong, but no one dares defy her until one day The Pee shows up unannounced, embarrassing her at the Queen’s birthday ball. The Pee does not care who her daddy is, and he tells Tallie as much. Frustrated, she flees from the room. And as the town discusses her dilemma, Tallie is forced to face two aspects of toddlerhood – potty training and treating others with kindness and respect.  This is a great alternative to the usual potty training books out there.

If your daughter will be starting potty training soon, this would be the perfect gift for her to get her excited about it!  You can find it through QuackBack and buy a really cute set.  You can also find them on Facebook.

Winner is Shannon!

100% Natural Muscle Soak Bath Salt by San Francisco Salt Company Review

I'm a LOVER of baths and almost every night I place a lighted candle next to me with a good book to read while taking one.  Being a mom to one or a mom to many, that has always been the power behind some good unwinding time.  Even better is when I can add a treat to the water with a lovely scent.

The San Francisco Bath Salt Company sent me some bath salts and boy is it relaxing.  Not only is there a nice scent but it's gentle and not overwhelming by any means.  It doesn't have a million ingredients but just salts and essential oils.  Lovely!

Made with pure Epsom Salt and eucalyptus and peppermint essential oils, Muscle Soak Bath Salts will help to relieve even the most overworked muscles.  This is the ideal bath salt for athletes, people with physical jobs, and anyone who needs to revive tired and aching muscles.

ANNNNNDD.... tired moms!  As a mom I've never worked so hard in my life and by the end of the day, I need that relaxation and something to help take the tiredness from my bones and relieve those aching muscles. Order Online for Christmas and Avoid the Crowds!

Shopping online for the holidays is my favorite.  I like to avoid the rush in the stores as Christmas approaches.  Actually, I kind of avoid it like the plaque.  However, I love to shop online and I have a few favorite places.  My first of course would be Amazon but there are plenty of companies to look into that offer products online that you can either have shipped to your home or pick up at nearest retailer.

This Christmas you can order the Skylighter lighted disc. It's ideal for the shorter days and enjoyable but darker evenings of early fall.  Once the sun goes down players can turn on the light module to illuminate the disc for dazzling evening play. The Skylighter disc’s patented aerodynamic design makes it easy for players of all skill levels to throw and its cushioned rim makes for comfortable catches.  It retails for $15 and is sold at Sports Authority, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and most other sporting goods stores.  See list HERE.

My kids think is fun to play with outside and have enjoyed it.  It'd make for a super unique gift for Christmas!  It comes in several different colors and what's great about this is they are a soft catch because of it's cushioned rim.

Will you be traveling through Arizona for the holidays?  I have six kids and keeping kids happy only last for so long after hours of driving.  Even for me. I loooove learning the history about the state as we travel through it.  Arizona Way Out West & Wacky is a fun activity book but it's even better because there is so much more than just about coloring.  There are activities, information about the animals that can be found in Arizona, types of plants, recipes (yay for moms!), crossword puzzles.  Funny, gross, interesting and wacky stories and facts.  I love fun mixed with learning and trust me, your kids will appreciate it!  I've really loved looking through book and am holding onto it for when we make our travels.

Glow Crazy sent my kids this really cool glove.  My boys love to play like they are all powerful so the loved the glove since it glows in the dark. When they put the glove on, they were having a good time playing in the dark and making some cool patterns on the wall.  Even more fun is that they have a special canvas they can draw on in the dark with the beams from the glove!

Right now though they have a cool special where you can order a kit for only $19.99.  You get a Glow Crazy duel beam Glow wand, 4 stencils, 3 sheets of colored canvas, 3 reusable colored jumbo canvas, tip book, and a bonus wide beam glow wand.  You can draw from over 10 feet away.  It's fun for kids and would also make a super unique Christmas gift!  In fact, when I checked on my boys 10 minutes ago, Ryan was laying in bed playing with his Glow Glove drawing.  There is still time to order before Christmas!  :D

So there are some unique gifts you can definitely find that I know your kids will love because my kids have had lots of fun with them!

Little Angels DVD Review and Giveaway!!!

I'm super excited about this giveaway because not only are they giving away this DVD to a winner but 4 of them! So, better chances to win.

So, what is the giveaway for?  The most adorable series came out called Little Angels for preschoolers but I'm telling you, it's not limited to that age. Grace Hill Media sent me a copy of this and I had my kids sit down to tell me what they think.  The best testers are kids, right?  Okay, all ages of my kids loved it from 2 years old to 11 years old.  It's not just a silly movie to put on for your kids.  Each one has a moral lesson to be learned along with great songs based on the bible.  There are even songs Learning Letters (God's Love Goes from A to Z), Animals (God loves all His creatures).

The one we got to watched focused on the character quality of picking up after yourself (ahem...my kids needed that one) and being responsible.  The Lord only knew this is my biggest stress right now in my family.  It's so much more fun to have a subject like this put into a fun story rather than always hear it over and over from mom.

When it came down to the songs, it had my younger 3 singing right along with it.  They sang to a story in the bible and what a fun way to learn it!  This is going to be a DVD series so watch out for them!  Kids are gonna love them and so will parents with the lessons they come with.

Little Angels is a Christian educational DVD that Roma Downey (of Touched By an Angel) developed as her way of giving back to the Christian community.

Giving Your Trash a Pick Up with Designerliners

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.
Designerliners will be featured on www.GroopDealz.com starting Thursday 10/6 for either two or three days. They are being offered at $3.00 off the regular 12-pack price!

I had these really cute Designerliners sent to me and I use them for the bathroom and office.  They are a perfect size because usually I'm using bags that just barely fit over the basket.  Then when I go to take the garbage out, it's usually overflowing. These ones give plenty of room to pull up and tie.  Besiiiiiides all that, they are super cute and you can pick the style for the room your basket was in.  I was sent the leopard print but my favorite is the black and white polka dot.  It's like giving your normal, everyday trash bag a pick-me-up.

Here is what mine looks like that was sent to me. We keep this one in the office.

Cute, huh?

Product Description Designerliners are stylish biodegradable trash bags that can beautify any room in the home. The bags come in ten different color/pattern combinations; Pink Polka Dot, Orange Polka Dot, Navy Blue Polka Dot, Red Gingham, Gold Gingham, Black Leopard, Blue Leopard, Red Toile, Blue Toile, and Black Tattersol.
