Tide Attack Tuesday

Since I did a post on Damage Control Monday, I thought I would share with you about my "Tide Attack Tuesdays". You know, I figure with cleaning the entire house on Monday, Tuesday has got to be a good day for attacking the Laundry Demon. Especially since we just went through a million different outfits for the weekend. Then there is church on Wednesday. So, Tuesday fits right in the middle. Plus, Tide Attack Tuesday just meshes well together. Since I'm a Tide lover, I really do mean Tide Attack. I feel like I blink and all of a sudden, all the laundry baskets around the house are overflowing. I don't know how. Just sneaks up on me. With all the little people running around the house, it builds up fast. All moms know this!!!

Damage Control Monday

Definition: A homemaker is a person whose prime occupation is to care for their family and/or home.

Definition:
Damage Control, emergency control of situations that may hazard the sinking of the ship. (This is just an example of the words "Damage Control". However I liked this one. Gave me a good chuckle.)

I have finally come up with a good name for Mondays around here. On Fridays we usually have Bible Study, then Saturdays we're running around with chores or spending time together. Like this last Saturday, Charles and I were out pulling weeds, watering plants, cleaning off the cement. All the while having a water fight with kids. By night time, we are off to our Church's Saturday night concert scene where my husband plays drums in a band. Sundays we're are off to church for Sunday school and morning service. Then night is church and the kids sometimes have children's church. So, imagine all that running around what it can do to a house.

Therefore, Mondays are like this overhaul cleaning day to make everything beautiful and perfect again. That way all the rest of the days are just maintenance days. I used to call it "Homemakers Day". I'm home all day so I can do the work. I never make any other plans ever for that day. BUT, I have come up with a new name. Since the house is at it's worst state on Mondays, I now call it "Damage Control Monday". D-Day. Hee, hee... Now that I told you all that, I'm off to do some serious Damage Control. :o)

Happy 2nd Birthday Ivy!!

Yes her birthday was on the 20th, but I've been doing a lot of work on my computer it was down for awhile. Now I would love to share pics with you! Her party went well, it was a swimming party, so we had lots of fun. Ivy especially loved her new toys.

Virus Troubles Again!

Sorry it's been so long since I last posted! I had a lot to do on my computer so it took awhile. I had to take out the hard drive on my computer, put it in another computer. Then take the pictures off of it and put on Charles computer. Once those were copied, then I reformatted mine, basically wiped it clean. Then put the hard drive back in my computer and reinstalled Windows. Then I had to set up my internet again. Yay! As of right now I'm trying to install some protection on my computer so I can stop getting viruses. So annoying. Just so you knew, Norton didn't protect me from the Trojan virus so I won't be using them again. Anyhow, I'm up and running again.

Chaotic Day! Coffee Anyone?

You should've seen today, it was so wild. Not only did I have my four kids, plus my friend's two kids I'm watching for the week of Conference, but I also had my friend over with her 3 kids all day. The whole day she couldn't get me to sit down. I told her because it takes a lot to keep up after 9 kids in the age ranges of 1-6.

I don't like my house to get dirty anymore so I just keep up on it constantly. So, now that I've trained my boys to clean up after themselves, they do such a good job, that my cleaning life has improved dramatically. However, whenever I have other kids over that don't know the rules, that can get pretty tough. So, I made lunch for 9 kids today, and then once the husbands were home (no, I'm not Mormon, the other man was my friend's husband), I made dinner for 15 of us total.

After the family left, I bathed the 6 kids left, laid them down, played a game of Uno with Chaz, then washed a couple of loads of laundry, then cleaned up my kitchen. Well, actually my house because I couldn't go to bed seeing how dirty it was. Now I am hear writing this blog. Now, as you you can see, it is time for me to go to bed as this will post late. (First I need to fold a load of laundry) Hmmmm.... I need to wind down and get some sleep. I don't know who gives me this energy being that I constantly forget I am 7 months pregnant. LOL! I seriously always forget. Except for that constant aching in my back that never goes away. I hope my dad doesn't read this or he's gonna call and lecture me! :P

Oh, funny story of what happened night before. At first I had our little guests Katie and Matthew sleep on some cushions on the floor of my 2 year old daughter's room. However, at 3am, Ivy thought it was a good time to stand up and talk to the sleeping kids on the floor. She just babbled and babbled till she woke them up and made them cry. After I switched their stuff to the couch, I tried to make Ivy lay down but then she thought I was a good candidate to hear her chatter. I finally had to go get Charles and he was able to get her to go to bed. By the time I got all the kids settled again and I fell back asleep it was already 4:30am. Mercifully I slept till 7am. Heard Katie and Matthew crying so I got up to get them some water and help them go back to sleep. I laid back down thinking how wonderful the pillow felt until I heard kids crying, "Get off! Get off!" I ran out of my room and couldn't believe what I saw. I saw my Great Dane Daisy laying across both the kids on the couch enough to where they couldn't get up. I pulled Daisy off, because she knew they were laying in her spot, and put her outside. I forgot to disarm the alarm and the alarm just started going off really loud! Oh my gosh! So I ran to enter in the code to make it stop. After I settled the kids back down to sleep, my phone just started ringing off the hook. Katie thought she had to pick it up everytime so she would come get me to answer phone. Finally, I just went and unplugged phone, and hid the handset. Then I was able to lay back down for a little longer and get some much needed rest. : )

What a tough first night for the guest kids! Then, you scroll to the top to see the story above, and that's how the rest of the day went. LOL! Just had to share the funny day with you. I think tomorrow will be much calmer. I'm sure... yes....
Thanks for letting me share my day with you. You know me, the journaling person.

Sunday Lunch

This week my friends are going to conference so we will be watching their two kids Monday-Friday. We went by to see their house and it's a lot like ours and we had pizza with them. They had a black lab that was really nice. Unlike our demon lab we had!!! LOL! We have a wonderful great dane now and a little Chihuahua. They are the best dogs. Along with a bird and a cat. :o)

Goodbye, Nancy....for now.

Pics are of an old photo me in the pink nightie with Nancy's son Joel as babies, Nancy, Nancy talking with my sister Jodee at conference, and old photo is of Arnold, my dad holding me, and Nancy's husband Gary Marsh, and Nancy and her husband Pastor Marsh.
A family friend of ours passed away on Friday after battling cancer. I am glad I got to sit and talk with her one last time before she began to fade. She is a complete sweetheart, devoted wife to a husband who pastors my old church I attended. It was obvious that her and her husband were very close and loved each other very much. She was a dedicated Christian, a stay at home mother, a loving grandmother, a pastor's wife, a foster parent and a Hospice volunteer. Goodbye Nancy, for now, I will see you in Heaven.

My Kids at Calie's Party

(Pic of Ryan and my friend Brianne with Ivy)

While I was attending my friend's funeral, Charles took the kids to a birthday party. Here are some cute pics of the kids and one of my friend playing with Ivy. I wish the party had been on a different day so I could do both but of course I needed to say goodbye to my friend one last time. Until I see her in heaven again someday.... It was good seeing my old friends. Afterwards, my parents and I hung out with some friends, the Ross', Randows, Bea, and a couple of people I wasn't sure of their names. We ate at an awesome mexican restaurant that also had a bakery!!! Yummm, my mouth is drooling.

Goodbye Rhonda...for now.

Goodbye to my friend Rhonda who battled cancer for the last 10 years. She was my Sunday school teacher when I was young and friend. I still remember her sharing scriptures with us girls at the table, telling us about Jesus. She was always so soft spoken and had a beautiful heart. She was very giving. Last I spoke with her she said she always believed in me and cared about me. She had a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and she is with Him now. I am going to miss you. I will see you in Heaven, Rhonda. Love- Jenny

My Birthday Get Together

Friday Charles took me out for a date and kept everything a surprise. First he took me to Red Robin and we ate and ate, all by ourselves. It was weird sitting there with no interruptions or anything. Not that I mind but it was quite different to be able to finish a thought. :) Then he tooked me to Mill Ave to stroll around and took me to Cold Stone for ice cream. Then we sat together in Borders bookstore in the coffee shop. It was wonderful and we didn't get home till almost midnight. Thanks Martin and Maureen for watching our kids! Saturday my mom, dad, Tammy, and Lola came over and made lunch. It was fun visiting with them and I loved my present and cards. It felt really good to have my family over my house and just talk with them. : ) Here is a funny pic of Charles and I being silly on the couch and a pic of me blowing out candles. I look like a stuffed turkey!! :D

Father's Day

We had a really nice Fathers Day!! I hope yours went good as well! Fathers are such a blessing and are so critical in our kid's lives. I am ever so grateful for my own father and for Charles who is a wonderful father to our children. In the morning we went to church, I sat with my father in service. Then afterwards we went out to eat with some friends of ours. Between the 3 of us couples there was 12 kids so we had to seat kids at seperate table. Then we went to visit at grandparents house to see family. I am six months pregnant in this picture in case you're wondering who the beached whale is on the couch. Hee, hee.... Charles said he had a wonderful day. I hope he knows how much I love and cherish him.

28 Years Young!

It is my 28 birthday today and I wanted to share with you 28 things I am so incredibly grateful for. :) Beware, this is long. I won't be doing this when I turn 50.

1. My relationship with Jesus Christ. Without Him, I could not make it with a smile on my face day to day. He gives me the strength I need.
2. My husband is my absolute best friend and love. He listens to me when I cry, laughs with me at my corny jokes, and makes me feel incredibly special.
3. My kids who taught me that life is so much more than money and careers. They have brought me back to what really matters and that is relationships. We could lose everything, but if we have each other, none of that other stuff matters.
4. My mom who is creative and sensitive. Although she gave me life, it's a wonder she kept me! LOL!
5. My dad who is a good listener and works so hard. He never ceases to amaze me how hard he worked for his family without complaining.
6. My father-in-law Martin who always fixes our cars even though we don't deserve it! He is fun to be around and has a heart. I couldn't of gotten luckier.
7. My mother-in-law Maureen who welcomed me into her heart and family. I've never met such a giving mother-in-law who makes one feel so special.
8. My sister Jodee who knows how to set me in my place when I am wrong yet always remembers birthdays and special events. She goes so out of her way to be hospitable.
9. My sister Tammy who is so sweet and the peace maker. She never ceases to amaze me how she will take care of you when you're down and make you feel welcome in her home.
10. My sister-in-law Melanie who likes to take care of people and knows how to give gifts well. She tries to learn what people like and puts a lot of thought into it. Something I have to work on.
11. My sister-in-law Desiree who is an amazing dedicated wife and daughter. She has good morals and will stick with them no matter what.
12. My house that God gave me. I don't deserve it through bad decisions I've made in the past but somehow God blessed me anyway. I'm amazed I got so blessed to have this as my first home.
13. My husbands job who does incredible things such as giving bonuses 3 times a year, dinners and bonuses at the Christmas dinner, and gives extra days off with holidays some people never get.
14. My cute Great Dane Daisy who loves a good snuggle. Best dog in the world.
15. My fluffy kitten Jasmine puts up so much with the kids. She doesn't mind being carried around and pushed in the shopping cart.
16. My friend Leslea who has something in common with me that only her and I could understand!
17. My very best friend Brianne who is always here and how I can call and hang out with anytime. She's such a sweetheart and loyal friend. Hard to find.
18. For Michele who always comes over and cooks, stays up late with me when I don't wimp out, and is so down to earth. I love that about her. She's real.
19. For my neighbors who always say hi! Who knew you could still borrow an egg anymore when you need one?
20. For my incredibly cool sanitary wipes from Costco. Who know I could chuck the dangerous chemicals for some safe wipes that clean so fast and easy? I love you wipes!
21. For my pastor who has grace but will step up when he has to. I need someone who can speak into my life whether it hurts or not. But also someone who can be real and understand. I am so grateful I found this church 8 years ago.
22. People in my church who know how to welcome you and looks past your faults. Even when you've come back from falling astray, they are just happy to see you're okay and serving God.
23. For Mary Benninger and her amazing rice and sauce. Thank you, Mary. Without you I would have nothing to eat at the buffets.
24. For Machelle, our nursery leader, she puts up with the fact that every time she graduates one of my kids out of the nursery, she is making room for another one of mine. Thanks!
25. For my Grandma Mona who is an amazing artist and always shares her work with me on my birthdays and holidays. Love you Grandma.
26. For my awesome mailman who doesn't mind me chasing him down the street for my mail. Without waiting for him, I would not pull so many weeds in my front yard.
27. For my van. Thank God for a van that fits our needs. I love my moon roof. Thank you, God.
28. Thank you God for my blog site. Without it, I couldn't share my pics and stories with friends and family out of town.

Whew.... trust me, I had so much more.

Busy with Dog Training

My gosh! I have been so busy with training my dogs lately that I've hardly had a chance write much. From now on I'm not gonna tell people I have four kids, I'm gonna tell them I have seven!! I have a Great Dane named "Daisy" as you see in pic. I have a golden Labrador, and a little black cat. Well, the great dane is a pup that needs training still and has accidents. One in Ivy's room. My lab needs to be neutered to calm down his aggression, and my cat needs to be spayed so she'll stop being in heat. Sigh. There is a mouthful. I love animals but I definitely need to get them trained and "taken care of" so things can calm down. Right now my great dane (which is bigger now at 4 months than in that picture) thinks that the couch belongs to her. I keep pulling her off. You have to know that pulling a great dane off the couch is no easy feat. She is sweet as all get but you know how puppies are. Completely untrained in every way! Tips for me in training are completely welcomed! :)

Scary stuff from Sweden

..."Again, this has thus absolutely nothing to do with “tolerance or diversity.” It’s done in order to break you down and to mold you into a new human being. Great emphasis is placed on destroying the Christian heritage of the native population. Pupils are taught that they have been liberated from the superstition and oppression of Christian nonsense. However, while Christianity has been ridiculed and demonized for generations, so much that some Swedish Christians complain about persecution, Islam is presented in textbooks as a benevolent and tolerant religion, and Islam is granted a high degree of respect in the public sphere.

A bus driver in the increasingly Muslim-dominated Swedish town of Malmö has been fired from his job following revelations that he stopped a woman from boarding his bus because she was wearing full Islamic face-covering, which made her hard to identify. In Sweden, it is thus unacceptable if girls are presented with pink ice-creams or Barbie dolls because this reinforces gender stereotypes, but the burka is just fine. Meanwhile, Sweden is in the midst of the most explosive rape wave in Scandinavian history, largely caused by immigration. While Swedish girls are called “whores” by Muslim immigrants, Swedish boys are told to wear a dress and study queer theory."

How Many is Too Many?

I seem to run into this question a lot. As far as kids go, it seems that everyone has their idea of how many children people should have. So, I've come up with my own list of why I like having children! How many is too many? I don't know!!! Just enjoy them whether you have 1 or 20! Time with them is too short to miss out.

1. My life is so much more fun!!!
2. I love hearing the pitter patter of my 2 year old's feet.
3. Seeing Charles love being a daddy and laughing at his kids antics are cute.
4. Hearing my boys try to talk using big words they don't understand is adorable.
5. Having 5 kids brings me out from under the "normal standard". I love being the odd one out.
6. Kids make me see things about myself I otherwise would never have admitted to.
7. Hearing giggles in the room because kids are playing together.
8. Hearing daddy say prayers with the kids every night and seeing Ivy clasp her little hands together.
9. It's so nice having people come up and tell me my kids are well behaved in public. It makes me feel like I'm doing something right.
10. I have every excuse imaginable to go to every toy section available in my state.
11. Having my boys come up and tackle me with kisses.
12. Seeing Charles get excited whenever I take a pregnancy test is the best part for me. I love his reactions.
13. Hearing Ivy call "mommy" from her crib is soooo cute. Even when it's 2am and she just wants a drink of water.
14. Maybe I should stop this list now before it ends at 100.
15. Okay, I think you get the point.
16. Hope you have so much more to add as to why you love having kids!!!

Disgusting Teaching in School

I Never Thought This Could Happen
by James Robison

"I am going to encourage you to have sex and encourage you to use drugs appropriately."

That was the message preached by clinical psychologist Joel Becker at a recent mandatory high school assembly in Boulder, Colorado. Children as young as 14 sat captive in the audience while other school administrators listened in silent consent. (It is revealing to note that Becker is a part of the Lesbian and Gay Psychotherapy Association of Southern California.)

Busy Weekend

My dad, Ivy, and I went off to visit family in Globe this weekend. Sunday night we visited Old church in Globe. We had a lot of fun. Ivy was a little fussy the whole time. I had to share a bed with her which I have never done and I couldn't believe how hard it was to sleep with her!! I laid down with her at 10pm Sunday Night, she talked, we sang songs till about 11pm in the dark. Finally I was so tired I kept begging her to close her eyes and sleep. She tosses so much in her sleep and she's such a light sleeper. I could barely roll over without her waking up. At around 2:30am, she was ready to get up for the day. She kept clapping her hands and saying "yay"! I made her go back to sleep of course. Then I woke up around 6:30am but I was afraid to leave her alone on such a high bed so I had to lay with her for another hour till she awoke. I had fun visiting our old church where my parents got saved and seeing some of my old friends. I love the rolling hills and I was excited to hear the mines were opening back up so that provides a lot of jobs for the men in the town. Ivy was quite a handful because I think she was teething and I couldn't get her to eat much. Otherwise, my dad and I had a great time and it was fun going together. Before that we had pool party at his family's house and then after the Globe trip I came home to a bunch of friends at my house. So after I played games, made lunch, and hung out. My friend and I drove to Anthem to some shops out there and then back to play more games. All in all, it was a very busy but fun holiday!

Post Mother's Day Thoughts

I sometimes have to remind myself (actually often) that I'm not just washing dirty clothes or changing diapers, but I am raising up future men and women that will someday fork out a path for themselves and their families. What I teach them now, the values I place in them now, or going to be some of their core beliefs as adults. They are so incredibly moldable right now it's scary. I know I have to be very careful. I want them to know that God should be the number one person in their lives and He loves them very much. I don't want to live my life comprising, or wavering, so they will know that it is possible to stay faithful through thick and thin. That the rain falls on the just and the unjust alike. That life is not always fair and if they do fall down morally or in other ways, to pick themselves, brush off the dirt, and to keep going. Not to give up because God never gives up on them. Being a mother is one of the scariest things to me that I could ever do, yet very rewarding.

I Can't Believe I Have Daughters!

Who could of thought I could ever be so lucky to have 3 boys and then 2 girls. It's just so perfect. I didn't have boy, girl, boy, girl. Just my boys together and my girls together. How awesome. I'm so excited that all my daughters fancy gowns get to be worn again. All her little shoes. The outfit Jodee bought Ivy before she moved to South Africa can be worn by the next "princess". The boys are real excited about their baby sister and they are telling everyone. They think there is not enough girls in the house. (We'll see about that when the girls are teenagers). Ha!

Things We Take for Granted

I've been doing some thinking, especially since Mother's Day is coming up, about how people used to have servants. At least some people did who could afford it. I would think, "Hey, what about me?" LOL! Then I really thought about it and this is what I realized....

Years ago, People sometimes had maidservants, we have the same here. People had it a lot harder back then in different ways, and I personally think we are extremely spoiled. Our maidservants come in many forms. We have a washing machine to wash our clothes rather than over a hot tub in the sun, we have a dishwasher to wash our dishes rather than by hand. We have water that comes right out of the tap, hot or warm! Rather than walking to a well some distance from the house. We have drains in our built in bath tubs rather than getting buckets to empty it outside. Much work was put into heating water in order just to draw a hot bath! We have electricity so we can stay up later rather than carrying candles around the house. We don't have to chop firewood to put in the stove in order to cook our food that comes from a natural fridge that had to be dug in the ground. We even have microwaves to give us instant food rather than labor over the stoves whether we felt like it or not! We have cars that can take us anywhere we need to go rather than having a carriage to slowly take us to town to buy more food. We can rummage through a sale at Dillards rather than plod with horses into town, sift through yards of material, then ride back home with the horses, measure, then sew just to have clothes on our back. We have airplanes to quickly take us to see a relative who may be sick and dying, or just to visit, rather than taking weeks, even months, just to travel there in hot carriages or sometimes trains. Most had to be satisfied to just send a letter.

You see, we truly are blessed! We have so many servants living right in our houses but we are so used to them we have ceased to remember that God blessed us with them. On the contrary, I believe we have it much easier these days. Lets not forget our blessings! So next time you look in the mirror and complain that your curling iron is taking too long to heat up, Just remember how far we've come!

Kids Behavior in Store

Iccle Anne said...
How do you manage with all the children, when you go to the supermarket? I'm asking all the mums I know - following seeing a child eating unbought food in the supermarket last night.

Virginia (Jenny) said...
Hi! I'm sorry it took me so long to respond. Actually, I tell my kids in the supermarket that they can look with their eyes and not with their hands. They are allowed to say they like something but not tell me they want it. I always tell them the rules before I walk in the store rather than once I'm inside. I do sometimes get some crackers and let them eat it while I'm shopping and then pay for it in the checkout. I don't let them just start opening whatever they want though. My mom did this with me and it helped me to stay calm with having something to occupy me. They know that they have to stay by my cart at all times and be respectful by not yelling or raising their voices. This is just how I've always done things and people always tell me that the kids are well behaved in the stores. I always smile because I know how hyper they are at home! :o) I hope I answered your question!

How Many Kids Should I Have?

You know, I've been thinking a lot about how much things have changed in people's mindset about families. Who sets the rules for how many kids each family should have? Who says how much you should make for a living? How old you should be before you start a family? For quite sometime I've put a lot of study into this and I have been trying to find scripture in the bible to tell me more. The only thing that I've been able to come up with is that when God joined Adam and Eve, He said "be fruitful and multiply". He didn't say, "be fruitful, wait till you're 35, see how you do with one kid, play it slow, seek Me, space them exactly 3 years apart, plant some more trees in the garden, then maybe multiply." Nope. It was plain and simple. Be fruitful and multiply. Yes I believe that if you feel as if you could kill the kids, then stop. Or you can't feed them and you're living in a cardboard box.

If you really look deep down, what is the real reason for not having kids?  Money?  Vacations?  Luxuries?  Age?  Big enough house?  Car? When I looked down into the root of it, in myself, I saw something that scared me. I Jenny, am a very selfish person. I want to have coffee at a certain time every morning, I want to eat out at will, I want to be able to sit on the toilet for more than 10 seconds without a kid knocking on the door, I want to have that red convertible I've always dreamed of, I want to be able to stay out late drinking Lattes with my friends, I want to buy clothes all for me, Shoes bigger than size 2 in the toddlers, I want to have my career and get my own paycheck.... This list goes on and on. In the end, if I had that, what do I get?

So, I can have coffee at 8am on the dot, I get a full stomach for the hundredth time at a restaurant I've eaten at 20 times, I get my butt stuck on the toilet because I read a magazine in the bathroom, I can get that expensive red convertible that was probably bought by credit anyway, I can fill my stomach up with Lattes that cost 4 bucks a piece, buy more clothes that soon go out of style and I'll soon want more, shoes and more shoes, a job that I have to drag myself to everyday and not get home till almost sunset in the traffic. What do I get after all that, after 20 years? Just stuff. And a empty dinner table. Now I know what God was talking about when the bible said;

"Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb is a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one's YOUTH. Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them; they shall NOT be ashamed, but shall speak with their enemies in the gate."
Psalm 127:3-5

"your wife shall be like a fruitful vine in the very heart of your house, your children like olive plants all around your table."
Psalm 128:3

Children truly are a gift from the Lord. They truly are a joy! I love how they make me laugh, make me see the flowers in a new way, help me to understand how much God really does love and forgive because we are His sons and daughters. I love to see my kids excitement on Christmas morning, the fun at finding eggs on Easter, hearing them ask me to be their Valentine on February 14th, seeing how special they feel on their birthday, and all the playtime in days in between. Each little experience in their life is a lesson waiting to be taught. I truly feel that by giving my life to God, living by His Word, I truly am experiencing His blessings.

It's a Girl!

I'm definitely having a girl. My husband met me at my doctor's office along with Chaz and Ryan. We couldn't wait to find out what we are having. As soon as the technician put the ultrasound up to my stomach I could see I was having a girl. It's a good thing I wasn't wanting to be surprised! She didn't say anything but about 10 minutes later she went to go find the sex and told me it was a girl. It was pretty obvious! Charles and I are so happy to give Ivy a little baby sister. It's just so perfect to have 3 boys and then 2 girls. We are already talking about them having their boy nights out and us having our girl nights out. It's so exciting. Ryan is a little bummed because he was hoping for a little boy Jamison. He wanted him in his room. However once I told that he was so lucky to have brothers but Ivy wants a little sister, he was happy for her. : ) If you would like to visit my pregnancy journal click here.
