Disgusting Teaching in School

I Never Thought This Could Happen
by James Robison

"I am going to encourage you to have sex and encourage you to use drugs appropriately."

That was the message preached by clinical psychologist Joel Becker at a recent mandatory high school assembly in Boulder, Colorado. Children as young as 14 sat captive in the audience while other school administrators listened in silent consent. (It is revealing to note that Becker is a part of the Lesbian and Gay Psychotherapy Association of Southern California.)

Busy Weekend

My dad, Ivy, and I went off to visit family in Globe this weekend. Sunday night we visited Old church in Globe. We had a lot of fun. Ivy was a little fussy the whole time. I had to share a bed with her which I have never done and I couldn't believe how hard it was to sleep with her!! I laid down with her at 10pm Sunday Night, she talked, we sang songs till about 11pm in the dark. Finally I was so tired I kept begging her to close her eyes and sleep. She tosses so much in her sleep and she's such a light sleeper. I could barely roll over without her waking up. At around 2:30am, she was ready to get up for the day. She kept clapping her hands and saying "yay"! I made her go back to sleep of course. Then I woke up around 6:30am but I was afraid to leave her alone on such a high bed so I had to lay with her for another hour till she awoke. I had fun visiting our old church where my parents got saved and seeing some of my old friends. I love the rolling hills and I was excited to hear the mines were opening back up so that provides a lot of jobs for the men in the town. Ivy was quite a handful because I think she was teething and I couldn't get her to eat much. Otherwise, my dad and I had a great time and it was fun going together. Before that we had pool party at his family's house and then after the Globe trip I came home to a bunch of friends at my house. So after I played games, made lunch, and hung out. My friend and I drove to Anthem to some shops out there and then back to play more games. All in all, it was a very busy but fun holiday!

Post Mother's Day Thoughts

I sometimes have to remind myself (actually often) that I'm not just washing dirty clothes or changing diapers, but I am raising up future men and women that will someday fork out a path for themselves and their families. What I teach them now, the values I place in them now, or going to be some of their core beliefs as adults. They are so incredibly moldable right now it's scary. I know I have to be very careful. I want them to know that God should be the number one person in their lives and He loves them very much. I don't want to live my life comprising, or wavering, so they will know that it is possible to stay faithful through thick and thin. That the rain falls on the just and the unjust alike. That life is not always fair and if they do fall down morally or in other ways, to pick themselves, brush off the dirt, and to keep going. Not to give up because God never gives up on them. Being a mother is one of the scariest things to me that I could ever do, yet very rewarding.

I Can't Believe I Have Daughters!

Who could of thought I could ever be so lucky to have 3 boys and then 2 girls. It's just so perfect. I didn't have boy, girl, boy, girl. Just my boys together and my girls together. How awesome. I'm so excited that all my daughters fancy gowns get to be worn again. All her little shoes. The outfit Jodee bought Ivy before she moved to South Africa can be worn by the next "princess". The boys are real excited about their baby sister and they are telling everyone. They think there is not enough girls in the house. (We'll see about that when the girls are teenagers). Ha!

Things We Take for Granted

I've been doing some thinking, especially since Mother's Day is coming up, about how people used to have servants. At least some people did who could afford it. I would think, "Hey, what about me?" LOL! Then I really thought about it and this is what I realized....

Years ago, People sometimes had maidservants, we have the same here. People had it a lot harder back then in different ways, and I personally think we are extremely spoiled. Our maidservants come in many forms. We have a washing machine to wash our clothes rather than over a hot tub in the sun, we have a dishwasher to wash our dishes rather than by hand. We have water that comes right out of the tap, hot or warm! Rather than walking to a well some distance from the house. We have drains in our built in bath tubs rather than getting buckets to empty it outside. Much work was put into heating water in order just to draw a hot bath! We have electricity so we can stay up later rather than carrying candles around the house. We don't have to chop firewood to put in the stove in order to cook our food that comes from a natural fridge that had to be dug in the ground. We even have microwaves to give us instant food rather than labor over the stoves whether we felt like it or not! We have cars that can take us anywhere we need to go rather than having a carriage to slowly take us to town to buy more food. We can rummage through a sale at Dillards rather than plod with horses into town, sift through yards of material, then ride back home with the horses, measure, then sew just to have clothes on our back. We have airplanes to quickly take us to see a relative who may be sick and dying, or just to visit, rather than taking weeks, even months, just to travel there in hot carriages or sometimes trains. Most had to be satisfied to just send a letter.

You see, we truly are blessed! We have so many servants living right in our houses but we are so used to them we have ceased to remember that God blessed us with them. On the contrary, I believe we have it much easier these days. Lets not forget our blessings! So next time you look in the mirror and complain that your curling iron is taking too long to heat up, Just remember how far we've come!

Kids Behavior in Store

Iccle Anne said...
How do you manage with all the children, when you go to the supermarket? I'm asking all the mums I know - following seeing a child eating unbought food in the supermarket last night.

Virginia (Jenny) said...
Hi! I'm sorry it took me so long to respond. Actually, I tell my kids in the supermarket that they can look with their eyes and not with their hands. They are allowed to say they like something but not tell me they want it. I always tell them the rules before I walk in the store rather than once I'm inside. I do sometimes get some crackers and let them eat it while I'm shopping and then pay for it in the checkout. I don't let them just start opening whatever they want though. My mom did this with me and it helped me to stay calm with having something to occupy me. They know that they have to stay by my cart at all times and be respectful by not yelling or raising their voices. This is just how I've always done things and people always tell me that the kids are well behaved in the stores. I always smile because I know how hyper they are at home! :o) I hope I answered your question!

How Many Kids Should I Have?

You know, I've been thinking a lot about how much things have changed in people's mindset about families. Who sets the rules for how many kids each family should have? Who says how much you should make for a living? How old you should be before you start a family? For quite sometime I've put a lot of study into this and I have been trying to find scripture in the bible to tell me more. The only thing that I've been able to come up with is that when God joined Adam and Eve, He said "be fruitful and multiply". He didn't say, "be fruitful, wait till you're 35, see how you do with one kid, play it slow, seek Me, space them exactly 3 years apart, plant some more trees in the garden, then maybe multiply." Nope. It was plain and simple. Be fruitful and multiply. Yes I believe that if you feel as if you could kill the kids, then stop. Or you can't feed them and you're living in a cardboard box.

If you really look deep down, what is the real reason for not having kids?  Money?  Vacations?  Luxuries?  Age?  Big enough house?  Car? When I looked down into the root of it, in myself, I saw something that scared me. I Jenny, am a very selfish person. I want to have coffee at a certain time every morning, I want to eat out at will, I want to be able to sit on the toilet for more than 10 seconds without a kid knocking on the door, I want to have that red convertible I've always dreamed of, I want to be able to stay out late drinking Lattes with my friends, I want to buy clothes all for me, Shoes bigger than size 2 in the toddlers, I want to have my career and get my own paycheck.... This list goes on and on. In the end, if I had that, what do I get?

So, I can have coffee at 8am on the dot, I get a full stomach for the hundredth time at a restaurant I've eaten at 20 times, I get my butt stuck on the toilet because I read a magazine in the bathroom, I can get that expensive red convertible that was probably bought by credit anyway, I can fill my stomach up with Lattes that cost 4 bucks a piece, buy more clothes that soon go out of style and I'll soon want more, shoes and more shoes, a job that I have to drag myself to everyday and not get home till almost sunset in the traffic. What do I get after all that, after 20 years? Just stuff. And a empty dinner table. Now I know what God was talking about when the bible said;

"Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb is a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one's YOUTH. Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them; they shall NOT be ashamed, but shall speak with their enemies in the gate."
Psalm 127:3-5

"your wife shall be like a fruitful vine in the very heart of your house, your children like olive plants all around your table."
Psalm 128:3

Children truly are a gift from the Lord. They truly are a joy! I love how they make me laugh, make me see the flowers in a new way, help me to understand how much God really does love and forgive because we are His sons and daughters. I love to see my kids excitement on Christmas morning, the fun at finding eggs on Easter, hearing them ask me to be their Valentine on February 14th, seeing how special they feel on their birthday, and all the playtime in days in between. Each little experience in their life is a lesson waiting to be taught. I truly feel that by giving my life to God, living by His Word, I truly am experiencing His blessings.

It's a Girl!

I'm definitely having a girl. My husband met me at my doctor's office along with Chaz and Ryan. We couldn't wait to find out what we are having. As soon as the technician put the ultrasound up to my stomach I could see I was having a girl. It's a good thing I wasn't wanting to be surprised! She didn't say anything but about 10 minutes later she went to go find the sex and told me it was a girl. It was pretty obvious! Charles and I are so happy to give Ivy a little baby sister. It's just so perfect to have 3 boys and then 2 girls. We are already talking about them having their boy nights out and us having our girl nights out. It's so exciting. Ryan is a little bummed because he was hoping for a little boy Jamison. He wanted him in his room. However once I told that he was so lucky to have brothers but Ivy wants a little sister, he was happy for her. : ) If you would like to visit my pregnancy journal click here.

House pics

Sorry guys, it's been so discouraging having computer problems I've gotten quite behind. Anyhow, I've had fun decorating and stuff. The only thing I really have left to do is lay out grass outside and paint every single room in my house. I don't like white walls. I'm not done with my bedroom or the other rooms but main stuff is done. Anyhow, here's some pics. Not all of them.
